The Member for Fafi (Hon. Farah Yakub, MP) to ask the Cabinet Secretary for East African Community, the ASALs and Regional Development: - (i) Could the Cabinet Secretary explain the mitigation measures and interventions taken by the National Drought Management Authority and other relevant government agencies to address the current drought situation in the country especially in the ASAL counties? (ii) Could the Cabinet Secretary explain the extent to which the country has been affected by the ongoing drought, state the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance and provide the level of funding by the government for humanitarian aid? (iii) Could the Cabinet Secretary further provide the specific challenges faced in availing aid to the affected population, and detail the roles played by different stakeholders, including but not limited to, the government, the United Nations and international partners?
