Question

The Member for Ruiru (Hon. Simon King’ara, MP) to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport: - (i) Could the Cabinet Secretary explain what steps have been taken to curb the increasing cases of accidents involving pedestrians crossing the Thika superhighway particularly, in Ruiru Constituency where numerous lives have been lost? (ii) Could the Cabinet Secretary consider urgently constructing more footbridges, speed bumps and ensuring adequate road markings, pedestrians’ crossings and road signs along the Eastern Bypass from Mwihoko Junction-Kamakis-Kihunguro to Prison Junction (OJ) to curb the high number of accidents occurring along the road? (iii) Could the Cabinet Secretary also consider urgently constructing a footbridge at the Green Valley Estate and Githunguri Primary/Secondary School along the Eastern Bypass where several residents, including children have lost their lives while crossing the busy road?
