The Member for Kirinyaga County (Hon. Jane Njeri Maina, MP) to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Education: - Could the Cabinet Secretary – (i) state the resources allocated by the Ministry to ensure inclusive learning for special needs children and those living with disabilities, and further provide reasons why there are delays in allocation of resources to specials schools in Kirinyaga County? (ii) explain why there is a shortage of special school teachers specifically at Kibirigwi Special School in Kirinyaga County, where there are currently only four teachers, and outline the Ministry’s plans to address this shortage? (iii) clarify whether the Ministry possesses data and updated information on children living with disabilities in all government learning institutions, and if so, specify the frequency at which this data is collected? (iv) provide the criteria used to ensure that the teachers placed in special schools meet the necessary qualification to adequately support and handle children living with disabilities?
