John Waluke, MP) to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy: - Could the Cabinet Secretary – (i) clarify whether the Government has identified technology firms that are releasing malware-infected software to consumers in the country, given that they place the blame for safety issues, security breaches, and cyber-attacks on the customers? (ii) state the Government’s awareness-raising efforts aimed at enlightening citizens on the growing hacking threats from cyber criminals in light of increased use of online services by Wananchi, and further clarify whether the Government’s free WIFI programmes include tutorials on online safety? (iii) disclose whether the Government intends to establish a fund to address cybercrime and to engage multinationals such as Apple, Google and Amazon in combating these online threats?
