The Member for Dagoretti North (Hon. Beatrice Elachi, MP) to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications & Digital Economy: - Could the Cabinet Secretary – (i) explain how secure the data of Safaricom subscribers is, noting the amount of data held by agent shops including copies of subscribers’ Identity Card and ease of changing PINs for sim cards and M-PESA? (ii) indicate the measures the Ministry is taking to ensure that subscribers register new numbers with their names as they appear in their National Identity Cards? (iii) state the total number of Safaricom agent shops in the country and explain measures the telecommunications company is undertaking to ensure that the data for its subscribers is safeguarded against scammers?
