Yusuf Hassan, MP) to ask the Prime Cabinet Secretary: - Could the Prime Cabinet Secretary – (i) explain the efforts that the Government is instituting to cushion Kenyans from the unbearable cost of living as a result of rising prices of basic commodities? (ii) explain what led to the escalation of prices of commodities such as Unga, Rice, Sugar and other basic food items in the Country towards the end of the last financial year 2021/2022 and into the current financial year 2022/2023? (iii) with definite timelines, outline immediate measures that the Government is instituting to – (a) lower the cost of basic commodities in the country; and (b) reduce the cost of fuel; (c) address the depreciation of the Kenya shilling against other currencies? (iv) outline the immediate steps the Government is taking to stabilize the economy and set the country on a growth trajectory?
