Omboko Milemba, MP) to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration: - Could the Cabinet Secretary – (i) explain why the Ministry is promoting workplace intimidation and unfair labour practices against non- local teachers in Mandera County and the broader North-Eastern Region, particularly when they raise concerns about security threats posed by Al Shabaab militia? (ii) consider the establishment of a special Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) unit to provide 24-hour protection for teachers residing in clustered settlements in the said county and region as well as guarantee their safety when travelling? (iii) outline measures that the Ministry has put in place to ensure that insecurity in Mandera County and the North-Eastern region does not disrupt learning activities due to the absence of teachers from schools?
