Question

The Member for Seme (Hon. (Dr.) James Nyikal, MP) to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration: - Could the Cabinet Secretary— (i) clarify whether the National Police Service undertakes psychological and mental health assessments during the recruitment of police officers, including whether police officers recently recruited have undergone such evaluations? (ii) provide details on the psychological, mental health and behavioural adaptation components incorporated into the police training curriculum, and indicate whether the curriculum promotes a punitive and adversarial approach towards the public rather than a rehabilitative and correctional approach? (iii) state the measures put in place to ensure continuous assessment of the psychological and mental wellbeing of officers, particularly with regard to their fitness to perform policing duties?
