The Member for Kiambaa (Hon. John Wanjiku, MP) to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Health: - Could the Cabinet Secretary- (i) Provide a detailed report on the current total capitation of the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) from monies from the exchequer, contributions payable to the Fund by the formal and informal sector, monies that were transited to the Fund from the defunct NHIF and other sources of monies payable to the Fund, if any? (ii) explain how the monies have been utilised since the operationalisation of the Fund to settle claims and enumerate the measures or structures that exist to ensure proper verification and expedient settlement of claims? (iii) state the current liabilities of the Fund are including pending NHIF claims owed to public health facilities, private health facilities and faith-based health facilities and the Ministry has put in place to ensure the verification and payment of any pending claims? (iv) how SHA is enforcing the payment of contributions by employers? (v) state the percentage of the SHA funds that shall be paid to medical equipment suppliers vis-a-vis the public health facilities and what is the rationale behind such financing arrangements?
