Question

The Member for Fafi (Hon. Farah Yakub, MP) to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum: - Could the Cabinet Secretary— (i) clarify the criteria and considerations employed in the allocation of KUSAP mini-grid projects across the constituencies in Kenya and further explain why Fafi Constituency, being the largest in Garissa County with just under 10% connectivity coverage, has been excluded from the mini-grid initiatives, and further state the steps being taken to address the reported disparities in the allocation of minigrid projects with regard to Fafi Constituency? (ii) provide a detailed update on the status of the power lines initiated in 2010 to 2012 from Dadaab to Alinjugur and Hulugho to Galmagala, and in particular explain reasons for the prolonged delays in their completion? (iii) elaborate the factors contributing to the reported lack of connectivity maximization in settlements like Bura, Warable, Kamuthe, Nanighi, Diiso, Abaqdera, and Guyo within Fafi Constituency, despite being connected to the electricity grid?
