The Member for Chepalungu (Hon. Victor Koech, MP) to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Education: - Could the Cabinet Secretary— (i) explain why only 112 out of 186 primary schools in Chepangulu Constituency have been approved for Junior Secondary Schools (JSS), which has resulted to the students from the 74 unapproved primary schools to travel longer distances? (ii) provide details on the criteria used to approve primary schools within rural areas to have a Junior Secondary School (JSS) centre and whether the same criteria is used for primary schools within urban areas? (iii) state the measures by the Ministry to expedite the approval process for the remaining schools in Chepangulu Constituency to JSS Centres considering the increased drop-out rates among children who lack the resources to travel the long distances to attend the approved schools?
