Dear Wazalendos,

We have put together a list capturing the names of MPs who are refusing to pay taxes and where possible their public statements, this is for posterity reasons…since we know how kigeugeu our politicians can be.

Please help us build the list by adding a comment below or emailing us info-at-mzalendo.com

What about those who have remained silent [in essence who do not want to pay taxes]? Start with kibz then go down the line! Other categories include watermelons like kalonzo who claim they want to pay but have made no effort to pay? A column for those who always paid. Peter Kenneth + Johnstone Muthama A column for those who have paid after KRA shook a stick at them e.g. RAO

As a country we need to raise our sense of outrage a notch higher... MPs need to know that they do not have an option. They are now behaving live they are waiting for a miracle that will waive this requirement... PSC nini nini... As Mukhisa Kituyi used to ask... "Where is our sense of outrage?" We should not allow this to go any other way... they must pay tax... that is all...

To me, anyone prompted by the rigours of the law, and not by the fact that it was the right thing to do should be yellow carded. It should not have been an issue of back taxes, it should have been from day 1. And on TV yesterday, Kalonzo sounded like an idiot saying that hana uwezo, labda baadaye, and in the back of my head, that sounded more like stupidity and an insult to Kenyans. WTF?

Salute to Peter Kenneth and Johnstone Muthama who have been paying taxes since their first payday in The 10th Parliament. Shame on the silent MPs... Na wale wanasema eti they've not had enough time to sort themselves out. In essence, wanataka more time ili wafiche most of what they've amassed so far. Malenge kama Kalonzo ambao ni kusema ya mdomo tu...

  • by admin on 30th June 2011

  • by admin on 30th June 2011

Hi Janet, any links supporting the story that the people of Gatanga are planning to vote Peter Kenneth out? That would be very sad indeed and would say more about Kenyan voters than our politicians.

It's a big shame that till now we have Mps who are still insisting on not paying their taxes. They should just comply and emulate the Right Honourable Prime Minister and His Excellency the Vice President among others. If they don't do this then KRA should keep their word and go for their assets the soonest possible,Kenyan's are watching!

My MP, Hon Gumo, is conspicuously silent on this one. hata yeye alipe! the VP, true to form, tried to sit ont the fence...went this way....then that way...then made a show of it infront of cameras after criticizing the same behaviour. Our sense of outrage should be boiling over.

Having recently visited Kenya I am amazed that there is such a lack of leadership in adopting such a fundamental principle as taxation equality when there are so many problems needing to be addressed. Whenever a tempest in a teapot brews up I tend to look around at what isn't getting media coverage that should be. Fire those that do not wish to pay their taxes and start firing those that are diverting funds destined to school children and their teachers. And don't stop until it is clear that all of the culprits have been given the boot. There are plenty of smart people in Kenya to fill any vacancies created. The world wants to help but it is not going to do so to the degree that it could with such antics going on. My 2 cents from the outside looking in.
