I will be one to admit that, even after having a parent who is active in the current government, I dont know much about the Kenyan Parliament. Thanks to this website, I am slowly gaining more knowledge about it and trying to understand why it is so corrupt and is always being criticized. Is there any way we can more information regarding the political parties..since new ones keep surfacing!

Thanks for opening the doors of parliament for wananchi to “enter” and see what actually goes on there. Much appreciated. Mzalendo is an important watchdog! - All the best.

MZALENDO, WE SALUTE:

“East Africa is the only region in the world that is still not connected to the global broadband network. “It makes it difficult to blog regularly,” said Ory Okolloh, a young Kenyan blogger. “More importantly it makes it difficult for blogs to be accessible to a wider audience.”

Her site, Mzalendo - meaning “patriot” - aims to keep an eye on Kenya’s parliamentarians, recently focusing attention on MPs’ attempts to award themselves a £45,000 pay-off when their term of office ends this year.

According to Ethan Zuckerman, a fellow at the Berkman Centre for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School, blogs such as Mzalendo “are trying to correct the weakness of the local press and provide a space for critique that doesn’t exist elsewhere”.

-Steve Bloomfield, The Independent, UK.

It is appaling that our politics are based on personal wrangles instead of being driven by positive policies. When we head for elections it is a high time voters should vote wisely dwelling on pragmatic policises other than being bought cheaply by kasukari ama unga which will not last for not more than a day. Let me inform Anne Njeri that i did understand where our own sons are called foreigners, i will still stand by my opinion that we are meant to elect someone basing on his capability and not by descrimination.
