curious,

Does helping an individual or two through their education, or putting them on a train that takes towards self prosperity count as a development?Does a leader who puts this in his succes basket stand a chance in the eyes of the hungry thousands awaiting answers?

rationalising,

Tribalism, cheap politics, hurling insults at each other, open disregard for self-respect...these things only exist within a flock whose herder is either incompetent or maliciously letting them slay each other, albeit verbal.Nothing leaves a wound like words meant to cause one.Even when the wound heals, and it shall one day, the scar remains.
If i were a stranger to the issue at hand the impression created by the string of comments down there is; discontent and blind following. No matter how crude or dirty politics can be, and that is how we have them in our beloved country, people with heads retain their self-respect.And of course look before they leap.politics is not a religion.Blind following only leads to lion's den.Let's not forgot we are part of a flock and our herder like every other herder can slaughter though that is not his cut-out purpose.
My point?Don't scream good when you mean doomed, or make a log out of a simple speck.Let's sit around the beloved fire place, laisamis, and sort out issues.
This is only a viable option when fanatic followers look around and the "offended" put down their guns.Otherwise, 2012 may find us not hurling insults but stones.

Note; Just because people may exaggerate because they are bitter we should not overlook the reality on the ground.Remember if there is smoke there must be fire. How honest is the M.P when it comes to serving his constituents.

Crying Voter

This is the cheapest propaganda someone can post. Whatever your motives, I have no qualms assuming this is a scattergun approach to issues. It is amazing you failed to recognize any good works by the MP. If at all whatever at stake is going down the Swanee, then your lopsided discovery will turn things murkier. At the same breadth you wrote this, now go roof tops to preach your gospel of what you stand for and your initiatives towards the realization of your goal.
Imagine what we can do when our imagination is joined to our common purpose. It could be just but fruitful if we pull towards the same direction. But with such kind of off –the-cuff remarks and coming from an anonymous, then it waters down the credibility and commitment he or she purports to sell to the public.
And as for Costa Rican university(ies) and particularly EARTH, Pliz double check again and report back here because am pretty sure you are nowhere near the truth.
Kindly don’t bite more than you can chew or simply approach every idea with an open mouth….

Tumetoka huko

An apology. I meant crab in my last article.

I would like to remind those who send such low cadre articles dismissing Hon. Lekuton´s work that, that kind of politics is too yesterday´s. Huko tumetoka. If you are playing the opposition, then afraid you are not anything close to that. You are simply not worthy to be one. Get yourselves some credible stuff and speak out.
Politics is progressive. It keeps on evolving and that is why it ticks. When not, it bores and becomes moribund.
I would love to see a worthy opposition.

EARTH SPEAKS FOR ITSELF

I would like to introduce you to EARTH (Escuela de Agricultura de la Region Trópico Humedo). This is where I Robert Lmeidimi Lechipan go to school. Let me go striaght to my point. I am refering to the comment about EARTH, that it ...¨is fake and that its graduates would be fake too¨. I have a conviction. It is the contrary. I have some advice for you. If you do not know, do not criticize.
EARTH univeristy was created to offer opportunities to students from poor regions to get access not to the ordinary agricultural courses, but to an excellent well designed agricultural studies that combines entrepreneural skills which helps the students to get straight to the market and employ themselves and others. That is, start their own businesses and help their regions. Students here start and manage their own business projects. Social responsibilty is part of the main objective of the studies that are offered here. If today, I get out of this university before I graduate, I would be a million times better that any student from any other university in the world. The reason is that I have been hands on the studies that I take here. All is practical here. We believe in doing things and not just teaching volumes of theories that cannot translate to fresh and healthy food, clean water, clean environment and less poverty in our regions. We work on projects that are directly related to daily lives. Just to name but a few, EARTH works with NASA to get a remedy to Chagas a disease that kills millions in Latin America, last year EARTH discovered a biological control to Black Sigatoka a virulent disease that attacks Banana with some bacteria that is found in the crub´s head, Inteligent fertilizers, ECHO-HUM is an organic fertilizer that was developed here. That is just but a few good things EARTH does.
Now if you think what EARTH does is fake, just do a little research and you will get to know what EARTH´s graduates are doing. Some have won NatGeo young explorers award for their works in poor regions and being innovative. Many here in Latin America have their own companies dealing with coffee, fruits, pineaples, Genetic Engineering of crops and livestock, banking, Drainage and Irrigation, Alternative Energy, Consultancy and many more.
Currently, we have students from 27 countries. Among them, we have students from Switzerland, Chile, Peru, Kenya, South Africa, Peru, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, US, Mexico, Argentina, Panama, Ecuador, Filipines, Indonesia etc.
We have professors who were formerly renowned researchers all over the world. The student-professor ratio here is ten to 1.

This is what i mean

Though i might not help in your cries - you seem to have started crying long before Joseph became MP, it is good news to hear that your hard-earned fruits of your labor will soon be ready! CONGRATS - Other than that i wish you the best in demeaning Lekuton leadership and character. May be that is where your FRUITS are

I want to also assure you that the truth will most likely be assured immediately as a rebuttal to your unfounded cries.

In addition the Samburu Vs Rendille notion is pathetic - do you exactly know who you are talking to? Watch out buddy your might be if not already drive your own self to exile. This is Laisamis Constituency has many tribes, small and large; therefore by you picking Samburu Vs rendille Just because you think Lekuton contribution in Maralal made him more Samburu than ever before; or he now hates and ready to DIVIDE and RULE Rendilles is stupidiest (sp) i have ever heard.

TELL ME WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT EARTH UNIVERSITY

Daily Nation, 31 October 2007
COMMENTARY
Universities as agents of prosperity
Story by JOSE A. ZAGLUL and CALESTOUS JUMA
Publication Date: 10/31/2007
University education and technological innovation hold the key to address global
challenges. African countries can learn from experiences around the world to make
their universities agents of prosperity.
The current world population is calculated at 6.35 billion and according to United
Nations projections, in three years we will be 7 billion; in 2025, 8 billion and in 2050,
there will be 9 billion of inhabitants on the planet.
The search for strategies to feed and provide water for this population should be of
vital importance in order to avoid and prevent major catastrophes. Currently,
millions of people are undernourished, most of them in Africa.
Hunger is not just a consequence of poverty, but rather one of its causes and puts at
risk the productivity of people, families, communities and entire nations.
This challenge is compounded by an alarming decrease in available crop land and the
hope of many countries—including China and India—to reach a standard of living of
the first world, which will exponentially increase the demand for food, energy, water
and forestry resources.
But there is a hopeful side to the equation. Technological innovation is an alternative
toward which we should focus our efforts. Technologies exist that promise to lower
costs and increase the quality and quantity of our productive activities all with a
greater attention to environmental sustainability.
Tropical biological diversity is also a resource that deserves greater research and
new and effective technologies can successfully be adapted to small-scale production
and commercial agriculture. The challenge is for universities to adopt and apply this
new perceptive in their programmes so that they can serve the needs of humanity
directly.
African countries and the developing world at-large should seek to transform
themselves from being producers of primary materials to adding value to products.
Universities should be promoting a new economic model for agriculture where waste
is converted into commercial products, where carbon sequestration becomes a
marketable service.
We know that there are great advances, but we should achieve much more. Access
to knowledge is very important and it is imperative that education reaches the
greatest number of people, particularly young people from economically
disadvantaged families.
It is our duty as universities, to form the new leaders that the world requires to
achieve transformations. These leaders have to be educated in a holistic way. They
should have strong ethical values and understand the urgency of prosperity and
justice. These leaders should be sensitive to the current reality, to the real problems
that face the world, and should be equipped to offer practical solutions that
permeate all sectors of society.
Academic institutions have to be protagonists in change. We have to convert
education into the axis of development and promote peace and democracy.
Costa Rica, which shares commonalities with many African nations in terms of
climate and resources, has been privileged to have visionary leaders who have
understood the importance of education and since 1949 has had a free and
mandatory educational system through elementary school. In this same era, the
army was abolished, arms were exchanged for books and canons for school desks
and state universities offering a world-class education were established. Costa Ricans
are very proud of this.
This investment has had visible results as Costa Rica is a stable country. The formula
is really simple: if we invest in education, we won’t have to invest in arms. If we
invest in education, we invest in life, not in death. We invest in peace and not in war.
Universities have the opportunity to build and share knowledge and create the
energy needed to generate profound transformations. The international community
needs to support such efforts.

Develop Decorous Discourse (correction)

Hi IKMUR,
I am disappointed to read your affront, a provocative note which sounds so aggressive on simple but crucial matter. I think you know that this is not a field for such kind of discourse especially between electorates. We need to come together to a drawing table, to negotiate and to see where we are going wrong as far as political climate of Laisamis is centrally concerned. For your information, 'politics' deals with constructive and activities dialogue, through a mature correction on issues affecting us - you and I. We belong to one Creator, One Constituency, and one Nation and therefore we have and share a common destiny or even fate if we preordain it for our selves. I have followed the line of your argument which I came to a conclusion that the level of negritude and consciouness for the good of our people is lacking in you. On this page, you have demonstrated overt emotions only to forget that you acting harsh on an innocent middle class person like you. We Kenyan at large lack viable leaders only because of the division existing among the middle class. The country is facing corruption scandals, poverty in terms of food insecurity, cattle rustling and other forms of problems, all affecting the poor-illiterate class down there in the village. We shall defend the good of all, and become Wathdogs of the suffering and most abandoned and marginalised people, instead of protecting few rich who have turned into leeches to suck our blood sadistically. Where is development, actually, in our district, and for the problems affecting Kenya currently, do you accept that our community,in Korr, in Kargi, in Laisamis district at large make the highest percentage poor and non-educated? This is the level I would prefer you to think on, not on subjective view point. The politicians certainly need us (you and I) to be honest Watchdogs otherwise, when we act as watchmen for them with a little token, we shall forget the needs of our people. Education is not only found on USA, otherwise, you are cheated that everything and everyone in overseas spits money only to get loose ends unawares. We need no quarrels here but a friendly and brotherly argument as young people who have shared that ONENESS call LAISAMIS CONSTITUENCY. This is a meeting point among other unitive elements. If the MP is not unitive, then we have a right and freedom to come out of divisive cacoons that has trapped us or from the mole burrows, and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Yes, enough may mean different things in different people, but it should be Enough for all including the village poor and the less fortunates who do not afford traveling to Overseas to get subjective satisfaction in the name of the community. Sorry to deviate to such points, but I only want you guys to see us not as petty enemies, or domestic opponents, but as brothers and sisters, special mates in that Blessed Shrine called Laisamis Constituency, a houst of love and unity and peace, cultured by our Ancestors. Do you normally swear by their names? I mean, in the names of our Beloved Ancestors who are watching at a near-distance places? If yes, then we belong to One People, One Land, One Constituency and One Nation.
On my case, I think the level I am currently does not qualify me to be a WIVU figure. I have really and I shall soon reap better results out of my efforts but my concern in that poor mama or that little girl in the middle of the desert who is neglected in terms of education and so forth. I do not act as Watchdog of Kuks for subjective reasons. Kuks is my (our) brother, uncle, son, dad, and MP. I would like therefore to come up with the proper distinction between his person figure and the MP figure. I and others who act as Watchdogs understand that we are NOT, I say we are NOT enemies busy attacking his personal domain interms of family or his own innate personality but we base our criticism on leadership relation to the development of the our constituency, Laisamis. The Black Consciousness Movement in South Africa, Harlem Rennaissance in USA and some hostile movements like alquaida in Iraq all have a reason for their activity but we who stand aloof never know their motif or grievances. Be neutral and never become a watchman but rather a patriotic electorate clothed with decorum.
Be yourself and never accept to be cheated that you or we youth are the leaders of tomorrow because that tomorrow never comes.
Be blessed!

PROVERB

Once beaten, twice shy. This is a saying which is in the hearts of the people of Laisamis Constituency since 2007 to 2009. The great let-down from the MP has become a factor that needed to be discussed about most urgently.
The community is divided and live in cacoons. We shall regret soon or later if the people cannot wake up and say NO to political demagogues and day-dreamers who promise people projects which they do not fulfill. The kind of psychological control of the peoples consciousness to vote for the nonviable and unaccountable leaders to make experimentation on leadership skills.
Mr. Lekuton, think again and stop being a schemer on people's future and lives. I think you have heard a lot about your incompetence on leadership but we compliment you with scheming skills using empty promises and money. The illiterate and poor majority who follow empirical baits and the end of deadly hooks you (Lekuton) stretches to them.
Let's come together!

The Political sunset!

Hi everybody,
May be you are crying like me, that you and I are living under an oven-like constituency which has no hope for happiness unless the burning heat is thrown out of the window. Or perhaps you are enjoying the heat without knowing its lethal effect at the end of the day. However, I invite each one of you (us) to listen to my points, one or two which I am giving to you this very hour. Let us go together to explore some of the problems shed down by our MP. Laisamis constituency is within and currently moving to its political sunset as the current MP seems to exploit the rights and freedom of the electorates. The community have had great expectations and hope for the bright future but that very hope has gone down the cliff into a space of doubts and melancholy. The promises, particularly concerning education and other forms of development in the constituency are all in a dim mirage immediately after the our beloved MP, Hon. Lekuton Joseph had taken special space in the the Kenyan Parliament. The electorates have remained dumpfounded having discovered the irresponsibility of the MP on contentious development issues and the burning problems facing the people in Laisamis district-cum-constituency during his political reign. He had merely entered into political arena to experiment his potentialities as a leader for the mass only to get lost in the middle and remained to enmasse wealth and fame at the expense of the HIS OWN PEOPLE. Sometimes, it is doubtful pertaining to his scope of leadership to see Hon Lekuton participating and contributing funds to people OUTSIDE his beloved constituency e.g. he went for a fundraising in Maralal, Samburu West constituency, to donate money to a man who is already a high school teacher - while poor students from Laisamis constituency suffer lack of fees. Lekuton's movements are overtly doubtful because he forgets to remain focus to Laisamis instead of intruding to other constituencies. Besides, Lekuton seems to sideline the Rendille community, the majority of Laisamis electorate, and this creates division between long established brotherhood with the Samburu. The problem with him is that he applies DIVIDE-AND-RULE kind of leadership strategy, not just to help people from their daily problems but to achieve personal gain such as the parliamentary seat. He gives money strategically not for development but to lure souls.
He has establishes the strategy of "taking students abroad for education" but people never learn the kind of colleges this children land in whether the colleges are recognised with approved and globally marketable courses. It ironic to go to Costa Rica and come back frustrated. This is because the students never get academic advice and career guidance before accepting the offer in the name of scholarship. Oftentimes, the "going abroad" is branded scholarship but it is ironic to see people running up and down soliciting for money through fundraising, unknowing that the courses offered abroad are available here in Kenya - affordable, accessible, marketable and manageable courses. What our people cannot understand is that scholarship should be paid for and thus the Hon. Lekuton capitalises on the slogan of "taking students out for education", so do you get and understand my point? wake up guys! Beware of luring baits which ultimately leave you gazing with an open mouth because 'if wishes could be horses, even beggers would ride on'.
Hon. Lekuton doesn't have skills of how to unite people and usher towards credible development.
WAKE UP AND STOP POLITICAL MIRAGE IN OUR MIDST.
Be yourself....

We are Doom! The Rendille is doomed...

Mr Lekuton has divided the Rendille community and brought nepotism and clanism among the entire electorates. Beware guys! Of late, we have come to learn the difference between a Samburu and Rendille, which has never existed before and this easily creates Tribalism...disagreements and possibly clashes. Beware! Don't play around with the FUTURE of the Rendille community or to sell OUR Rights (yours and mine) to earn personal interests and shortlived wealth at the expense of our education...our land...our destiny...our culture....etc
Lekuton cannot be compared with Lkayo since he (Kukton) tricks the illeterate electorate for votes without giving the lasting development and relevant solutions to the common problems affecting the Rendille.
He takes advantage of high level of illiteracy and applies Emperical philosophy to manipulate the conscience of the Rendille people. We need a leader who listens, loves and serves ALL without segragating people on VOTING participation in his favour during election exercise. The Rendille community needs to UNITE (but he is always for the few). Laisamis Constituency needs to get ride of such OPPORTUNISTIC MPs and replace with a genuine, transparent, honest, all-people-oriented and development conscious leader; a leader who CANNOT create or encourage division and hatred among us...among all...within us all....
Our constinuency is annexed...our CDF and bursary funds for education are controlled and manipulated by him and his "BEST" friends.
WHERE IS LAISAMIS BY 2012? HELL OR HEAVEN? You have the answer on on your VOTE, your love for your community, not love for selfish ends.
LET US COME BACK TO CONSENSUS.
Enough is Enough!

"What a new year present"

An era of press freedom in Kenya came to an end on January 2009,when the president gave a new year present to all kenyans by signing the media bill into law. The president, decreed new powers to the ministers of internal security/information to seal the offices of television and radio broadcasters, seize equipment and suspend operating licences, arrest and jail. You can imagine what will happen with the law now(If the snake bit in 2006 without a law)

Even with the widespread outrage by groups and citizens fell under deaf hear and one is left asking the following questions:
-Who are the adviser of the president.
-Is the president with the people or not.
-Does the president want to leave a legacy
-Is he a good listener.
-Does he have a project to sponsor in 2012 for leadership.
-Are people around him taking advantage of gentle character.
-Is the government serious.
-Does the president learn from the past mistakes.

Let the media be free.

Merry Christmas and happy new year.

LEST WE TAP OUR RESOURCES

I recently went across a news paper review outsourced from parliamentary surveys that ranked kenya's richest and poorest constituencies. suprisingly, Laisamis was not found in either of the two though i speculated my notion on the poor rank. well, the experts know what they did! Laisamis is one of Kenya's rich constituencies if the government could have concentrated it's regional development efforts to tap it's massive dormant resources. Just like any other northern Kenya region, marginalization has pulled it back for decades owing to the fact that a larger percentage of the constituency's population is illiterate thus slowing down the process of resource mobilization. thousands of livestock still roam the region's large tracts of virgin lands. moreover, wind energy is one of the wasted natural resources in Laisamis. No wonder, we could have had electricity a long time ago. what about the hidden tourism ventures? by these i mean the charming landscapes, the gentle rolling plains, the great Ndotto Mountains in Ngurunit, the rocky deserts, our wildlife, and the rich culture of our people. Though I am a student Journalist, i still blame the mainstream media for always portraying the negative side of our place just as it always did to Northern Kenya as a whole thus scaring away the would be potential investors opting to come to Laisamis. our educated youth also form part of a vital resource in terms of giving back to the community let us think of ways we can come up with initiatives meant to exploit our own resources instead of always waiting others to give us something. that is the only way we can create a favorable socio-economic environment for ourselves. And by the way Laisamis is one of Kenya's peaceful constituencies! thanks be to GOD. then what can really block us from developing Laisamis? Besides, CDF should demonstrate transparency and accountability in terms of funds allocation. the youth should also pay attention to the youth enterprise development fund instead of turning a blind eye on the matter.

A silent revolution is truly creeping towards the tenth parliament due to the leadership inability of our kenyan MPs. people like lekuton will not be spared either come 2012. it is true that political divisions are rapidly engulfing our people and most alarming, even our elite. how long will we therefore sit and watch kukuton playing this games. one day, laisamis constituents will change their stand on kukz and elect a new leader. and guess what? things will never be the same again!

INITIATE A VISION FOR THE REGION PLEASE

Dear Mhe. Lekuton

Going by what i have heard about you, i expect you to play leadership role in and outside Laisamis. Most of the problems in Laisamis are external to that constituency: Poor infrastructure, lack of peace, poor markets for livestock, marginalization are all what i expect you to tackle but you cannot do that alone. Use your experience to rally other leaders from the region together and fiight for our rights. We badly need leaders who are above CDF only. I listened to your speech once and I know you have a bigger vision but let it be a vision for all of us. For that is the legacy we expect from you though am not from constituency, it doesnt matter you are my leader. Best wishes

I am still focusing ahead to our people to have a true leader who knows what bothers our people, not leaders who are there to make their names and build the livelyhood of their friends. I am still focused to one day get a leader who will liberate rendille and Laisamis constituency from the enemies of humanity. These are poverty diseases, and human enemies. So brother I still press on ahead to be the one who will be part of those who will give this community a worthy leader who will also destroy the rift that exists amongst the little Rendille community. I am not supporting Lekuton in any way that will only benefit me but I support what will benefit our community. I see a time coming when we will not brand ourselves as true and ariaal rendille, a day when we all become one and will be takling together the common problems that exist amongs us a people. This

i have never express my concerns in this forum but the recent outburst by one lkayo left me dumpfolded, well i have no idea who he is since i hail from kuturuni.however that not withstanding he has a right of expression as enchrine in our constitution.I have some partinent questions for him,how old is lkayo.Well from his expressions he looks like he attended a formal school to differentiate between facts and hearsay.i believe from his sentiments he is in a age bracket of between 17-24,well i am not quite sure just judging this from his emotional outburst and the kind of language he is using.some of his concerns are genuine but the way he puts them across is wanting.let us have some sanity and criticise constructively not being abuse.let us not leave in denial lekuton is our member of parliament period

Who really cares about Lkayo anymore? wasn't he the guy who was smoked out of his own forum in 2007? How old is Lkayo anyways? This guy is pigion-holing Rendille and busy driving the wedge inside our community. If you are depressed about the fact that Lekuton doesn't notice you even exist, take that up with him. Stop using Rendille name to adjust your own inadequecies.
Lekuton is above all these crap and you know it; he has stood out in that Parliament and frankly he has won the approval of those of us who sat on the fence during his election. I didn't support the guy initially but I think he's talking and walking the talk. Give to Ceaser what belongs to ceacer and to God what belongs to God.

to my friend Peter Ltinga Lkayo

I want to talk to my friend Peter Ltinga Lkayo. I will not tell you my name but as your elder and someone who believe in you I have to say this to you. Don't let emotion run you. I know you from when you are a kid and never knew you are saale untill when Ilmauli were innitiated. I have read your email and it shocked me that you can habor such hate in you. I never knew you to hate any one. A lot of people have wronged you but you are always that forgiving. Why this hate my boy?. Since this election has gone you have that hate in you. It shocked me that you have deserted and cut links with your sister married in Rongumo just because she voted Lekuton. you did not have a mother, she was your elder sister and acted like your mother. took care of you and now because she followed her clan she become your enemy? I usually think and believe you are true democrat and one who never act like this. Please my friend and my son let this hate don't consume you. We love you.

in the same breath, are you going to hate Gutoya orguba just because she supported Lekuton? people have the right to choose who they want and given chance can as well choose wrongly.

I have monitored your hate for some time and I could not let you destroy your self. It shocked me that you never went back to Korr after election, I hear you have changed your voting card to Nairobi since you don't want to have lekuton as your MP, I hear you are even pulling away from Baalah primary and have already handed the mantle to Pastor Dhahaleyo and want to cut all ties with your people. You refer Isiolo as home. you call people at Isiolo your people just because you can't stand to be in the same constituency with marrii dayaan. why this hate. You will not run away from your history. You are from there and whatever you do, how ever you run Lekuton is your MP and you better face that.

you talk about RENDILLE AND SAMBURU. I don't know how much Rendille are you. Yes you belong to a clan of Rendille but how much Rendille is your blood. Your paternal grandmother is from Pooro in Maralal, msichana ya leruk. There is rumours that by the time she was married to your grandfather, she was pregnant with your father, your mother is from Arigeele and they are Ekaal same as Lekuton who is now branded samburu enemy type. So how far is your blood Rendille and not Samburu? same way, Lekuton may be more Rendille in blood than you as his mother is from goobore. but my point is is not that. we are all children of laisamis and we need all of you.

Let me tell you, I wanted Korr to be HQ, but there are things which I did not tell anyone and nobody looked at it that I may not prefer Korr. Korr is water locked when time of rain. No transport and so may be Laisamis is better choice. so look at that also.

Lastly, my boy, you and Lekuton have some similarity. Both of you have fanatical followers, both of you brought development to people and that is why people are suspecting you to have millions from local name, those who did nothing to community are first to criticize you when they did nothing. Both of you are equally loved and hated at the same time and you are misused by your groups. You don't need to fight each other. you have already enough enemies you need to work together. Yes politically be different but for our sake work together. It will be the two of you who will break and make all Rendille and Ariaal. if you think you are not like Lekuton, go and talk what you feel to his face. Don't be like torare, and others who can't grow up. You are leader go and face him. Get out of this Email stupidity. you are above that.

Now If you really, love people of Korr, you have report for water, you know the problem, go and share with lekuton so that we can get some CDF money to help us. We can not wait until we get out Lekuton to get help that is being selfish. Go for it.

Please don't think in any way iam abussing you, belittling you, or any negativity. I am your friend I want the best for you.

Laisamis District

It is quite strange to see people how they behave! The time of elections I was not supporting Hon Lekuton and their were many who supported him because he won. The people who now call themselves the True rendille have realized the leadership potential that is in Hon Lekuton. Leaders are not known during elections but when they make decisions. Hon. Lekuton has shown himself a leader by giving Laisamis town to be the HQ of Marsabit south District. How can Korr or anywhere claim supperiority above Laisamis? It is impossible Laisamis is now competing with major towns in Kenya and not with Korr Kargi or the like. Thank you Hon. Lekuton. Dont be swayed to make wrong desicions that are not practical but make decisions that are worthy!

Rendille will rise up one day

Hon. Lekuton, it is very bad that the constituency is this divided. You seem to see everything to be politics. Politics are offer. You don't need to punish some areas just because they did not vote you in big numbers. You don't need to punish Korr and Kargi just because they voted for ODM. there are close to one thousand people who voted for you in Korr why are they punished just because they are neighbours to ODM people? six hundred people voted for you in Kargi why do they get punished for that. No it is not right. You are not punishing the ODM people you are punishing any one who speak Rendille. You are creating a situation where the hate will be rooted into peoples hearts. It will be dangerous and if this is not stopped, one day we will be enemies. I can't know the difference of a samburu and Rendille by looks untill it come to culture. I don't know what you call Aryaal because they have same culture and same area with Rendille. I have relatives in Merrile, laisamis do that make me more Rendille than them? No. But you are trying to create that. Create bad blood between us who live in Korr and kargi and the rest who live in laisamis, Merille, loglogo and Ngurunit.
When I see alqaida, Somali islamist fighting with occupation forces around the world, i think I know the pain of occupation. Never occurred to me that Rendille has become and occupied community until I saw and heard what you are doing to the people of korr and Kargi. To a man who have created a name internationally for himself in education, you could have been the last person to politicize education sector. No wonder all education officers take their children to meru school. I read your cowdung hut to Havard book. and you have good issues. one of real struggle. why not give another child have that. i felt pity for all nomadic people by reading your book. Why don't you give that chance to other children? Children did not vote. You want to punish their parents? there is a lot of ways to punish them. but respect what you talk in Tedd talk. Be that wonderful man who talk in international talk. stop being a monster to those kids.

ever hard a song by Karaba Sahado saying maendeleyo tii Korreet. Adaagte? when that song was first played Korr just got the first assistant chief. that mean it was sub-location and through the time we have gone above and it is wonder we are looking for district HQ. and it is the natural place for that HQ. idhii baakali baaryu assokora. Koore matamut, kool dakhaan adaakhan taahon. and that song is our prayer. beat us up, kill our economy and socially divide us as you want but the seven white stones of Korr will shine even at this dark time.

according to Rendille history, many tribes have tried to occupy and colonize Rendille. Ever heard Kipyaay ariigin tiis dhicha nuuho tiis maahe keene. to me you been Rendille. Even when you joke randhille i though you ARE part and parcel of that laibor lache. but when you are fighting people just because of being Rendille, Nuuho taah maahe keene? akaagare. no one community have ever managed to colonize Rendille, not maasai as mighty as it was, Not borana, not Turkana and certainly not one individual like you. We will rise up like pheonix bird one day from the ashes of ruins we have put our selves into. one day will claim our place in the living history not among the dead history you are putting us. your not immortal. one day you will get tired of your ways. only God will finish Rendille not you. God will sustain Rendille. Waakhii rendille ajiira.

I have talked my heart out. and at least I have released some burning issues in me before they burn me out. for this five years be a leader not a ruler. You are now acting like a ruler. A ruler is not appreciated, what ever good he does. you have to be a leader you potray around the world.

Re Laisamis

On this website, messages critical of Laisamis as the district capital are deleted very fast. Lekuton what are you afraid of ? What I and others said is that the Rendile speakers have been margialized by the Samburu speakers. The Rendille centre is Korr, But the Rendille have no place at all where their language and culture have a recognized status. To say this is not clanism or tribalism. It is about the rights of a lingustic community with a unique culture. Our language is Rendile and our capital is Korr.

MP behavior

In the real world, getting elected gives opportunity for perks, self-promotion, and corruption. You will not find any exceptions in US or homeland. You will receive loud criticism and insults, you will develop a thick skin, and you will get whatever you can. Work for progress and unification is probably too much to expect.
The public is cynical and very aware of their MP's actions. They are very jealous that one from up country is moving up. Your speech on TED projected a good image to Americans. You could raise $millions in Kenya aid from US with such a pitch. You can have all the power you can handle. Sadly, beautiful Kenya is still back in the dark ages. It will suffer and fail due to internal injuries. Too much squabbling, distrust, bad feeling, jealousy, tribalism. To succeed as a nation requires enlightenment: neighborly trust, respect, courtesy, positive outlook, and willingness to help others. The small village had it in the old days, but progress, technology, and old devil CASH changed everything. US was also beautiful before progress, but we can't go back to the good old days either. Corruption & Commercialism is widespread in US too. Soon US will also be tested and found deficient in honesty, character, and trust. Then it will become 2nd rate power and not empire any more. Look at other great empires of the past. They have their bonfires, and then ashes. Kenya bonfire is only a spark. Not working for peaceful progress will put water on it. I am in 80's and cynical about real progress. But I wish a good spirit to come over your country and heal its troubles. I may not live to see it.

who told you when they over power you, you kill them? we had that the car belonging to the next MP of Laisamis had been attacked. if you cant fight intellectually even physically you are doomed. this is coming to you as a warning, dare harm him, then you will learn who is who. you have name him terrorist and all sort of names, that shows the kind of person you are. there is no fund rising you have attended and you ever gave cash, but always pledges which are never fulfilled. hiyo ni deni ya watu, if you are not capable of doing something be a man and say what you can, don't just say a figure for the sake of it. maintain discipline this time of election coz you are just another young boy in politics, consequences of indiscipline are unbearable. you think you gonna rig the same way you did in by elections? sorry thinks will never be the same again. finally, have respect for your children by not going with all sorts of ladies just in name of having money.

Are Turkanas not Kenyans

Why is it that whenever Gabras are attacked all gov't machineries are applied just like in the recent attack at sarimo where the "gabra gov't" dispatched two gunships to Moite hills to fight the turkanas. This is not fair at all coz in real sense the shoats that were recovered originaly belonged to the turkanas in that they had their marks and tatoos and were raided by Gabras. Finally, as long the gov't is going to side with the gabras, the turkanas are going to employ all their machineries to ensure that their lives and properties are safe without compromise.

He said in the next few years he doesnt want to see women in his constituency travel for miles on end just to look for water.
