It seems like there will be a plethora of websites cropping up to cover the 2007 elections. Here are some recent finds that still need a lot of work in terms of content:

Mzalendo means Patriot in Swahili. Mzalendo is a volunteer run project whose mission is to “keep an eye on the Kenyan Parliament.” The project was started by two young like-minded Kenyans who were frustrated by the fact that it is difficult to hold Kenyan Members of Parliament (MPs) accountable for their performance largely because information about their work in Parliament is not easily accessible.
[...] Mzalendo: Eye On Kenyan Parliament has a short piece about websites designed to cover the general election in Kenya later this year, “It seems like there will be a plethora of websites cropping up to cover the 2007 elections. ” Ndesanjo Macha [...]
we created a wiki for the elections as a repository for data on those Kenyans who have put themselves forward as candidates for the next election. We hope that it will become a tool and a point of reference for all those seeking to make an informed decision prior to making their decision on who to vote for. The site works in a way that allows all users to edit its content, much in the style of wikipedia. We ask that users are responsible and that they try to be as factual as possible, providing backing from news sources for all the charges against and commendations for that they make. Invitation to strategy meeting of young parliamentary aspirants (1 Mar 2007)
My colleagues and I, being Kenyans aged below 40 years of age, wish to kindly invite you to a meeting to launch a campaign coalition and formulate election strategies for young parliamentary aspirants. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 3 April 2007 at a venue to be announced in Nairobi.
The meeting will have young aspirants from disparate political parties and persuasions but the uniting factor is that all those present will be young people who are enthusiastic about bringing about meaningful changes to the politics, economics and society of Kenya. They wish to help the country to repudiate the failures of the past and unite its people in forging a just and prosperous nation in the shortest time possible.
They recognize that older, more experienced leaders are still needed and, in fact, will still be in our parliament as our democracy allows everybody that freedom but are determined to get their fair share of leadership. They want to be more effectively involved in public affairs. Consequently, they seek to be elected to parliament as one of the strategies to ensure they can bring about these changes and increasingly take over the leadership of the country.
We are aware there are similar initiatives launched in the recent past. What we hope to achieve in this meeting is to unite the various initiatives pushing for young aspirants and ensure we have one vision, common strategies and a strong also hope to achieve in this meeting is to unite the various initiatives pushing for young aspirants and ensure we have one vision, common strategies and a strong network. BigUp Mzalendo. BBC has a nice piece on this great site.
I’ve book marked this site via RSS and i am disappointed by the lack of activity on the site. This being a political website, and given the political climate on the ground at the moment, its a bit shocking that there are no articles. Dont turn this wonderful idea into the usual ‘good idea while it lasted’ thing that seems to plague us Kenyans.
Perhaps implementing a discussion forum might encourage interaction?
There are also fundraisers sites such as this for President Kibaki (www.mwaikibaki.mobi)
Kenya the land where, the soil is black, rich in natural resources, beautiful and where we can walk without fear of bombs but politicians are like lady birds that hatch the eggs they have not laid, its a pity.We vote for change but we bite the bullet.Youth bear the brunt, the rich continue being rich while the poor toil to survive but one day grass will grow and the youths will have their share of the national cake that will be without blood as of the post election violence.Remember youths are only below thirthy five, those who are supposed to retire cling to their positions as the Goverment sits back in support, above 55 ,please pack and go home so that we can reach the base of our dreams and the summit will be the ultimate ,destination.
Free and fair elections is only a word in the dictionary, democracy is an illusion in the minds of greedy politicians in Kenyan politics,as events unfold we watch and we have no control but they that are sitting in Parliament eat and burry promises in home coming parties, lest you politicians forget we are at your door steps, your days are numbered 2012 will come and like an eagle those rapt in vision will do Kenya proud and the rest by in the scene of politics.
